Two friends - six children - one vision
Hi, we are Antonia & Johanna from PAPA LOBSTER
We've been friends since our sandpit days. After school, Johanna became a graduate engineer for textiles and clothing and made a career in the textile industry. And Antonia studied visual communication, graduated as a designer and master student at the UdK Berlin and worked as a freelance creative. We founded PAPA LOBSTER together in 2013.
Based in Paris, Düsseldorf, Nuremberg and Kathmandu, we design, manufacture and sell premium clothing made from 100% cashmere at fair prices for babies, kids, teens and women. Because we and our families love cashmere. Because it is cuddly soft and super comfortable to wear. Because its fine, lightweight fibers look beautiful and regulate temperature. And because cashmere is so suitable for families. Because what many people don't know:
Cashmere fibers are easy to care for, hard-wearing, suitable for everyday wear and sustainable.

FOR DELICATE BEINGS
A purely natural product for baby and children's skin
As we are moms of six kids ourselves, we attach great importance to natural and pure materials for delicate, sensitive baby and children's skin. For this reason, we use the most valuable natural fiber in the world for our PAPA LOBSTER collections: cashmere. No wool is softer. No natural product keeps you so cozy and warm in winter and ensures an optimal skin climate in every season. Cashmere is a true all-rounder among wool fibers.

SELECTED WITH CARE
Where our cashmere comes from
Our cashmere comes from free-range and species-appropriate goat herds from Inner Mongolia. Due to extreme temperature fluctuations on the Mongolian high plateau, cashmere goats develop their incomparably soft, supple undercoat, which naturally regulates their body climate. Our goat farmers do not shear the hair, but comb it out on each individual animal. This is what makes cashmere fiber so exclusive. To give you a comparison: every year, our farmers can only produce around 150 grams of wool from an adult animal. For a women's cashmere sweater in size S, however, we need around 200 grams.

WE PAY ATTENTION TO THE HIGHEST QUALITY
Fibers and production are our be-all and end-all
We manufacture our clothing in small factories in Nepal and thus support local families. Our aim at PAPA LOBSTER is to offer you, our customers, the best quality. That is why we subject every single item to thorough quality controls both in the Nepalese production facilities and in Germany. We regularly have the fiber purity tested in an independent laboratory.
What we promise with "PAPA LOBSTER - 100% cashmere", we keep. Family word of honor.

CUDDLY AND SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN
100% cashmere = 100% family
As you can imagine, we've had countless cashmere-and-kids conversations. People are often amazed that cashmere is so easy to care for and therefore fits perfectly into the everyday life of families. But this realization is precisely the reason why PAPA LOBSTER exists. We have tested all the clothes in our store ourselves on the playground, in nurseries and schools, while baking, doing handicrafts, running around and celebrating. Two to eight-thread cashmere yarns make our
pieces wonderfully durable. Light dirt and liquids simply roll off.
Good to know: Cashmere can be washed in the washing machine - with wool detergent and on the wool cycle. This not only preserves colors and shapes: Cashmere even regenerates through regular washing and becomes more beautiful and cozy. So you and your kids can enjoy our textiles for years to come. Slow Fashion - GROWING CLOTHES
Stretchy knitwear and sustainable designs
Your kids are getting bigger - and our garments grow with them. Because knitwear is stretchy and flexible: where sleeves are first rolled up in a cool way, after a few months the jacket will fit to size. Now it will be worn for a long time until it can be passed on to a sibling. To support sustainability even more, our cuts are generous by design. We have also cleverly designed many items, for example with turn-ups or long waistbands that grow with the child; many items can also be worn by boys or girls. Thanks to the special material properties of cashmere, design and parenting strategy, garments become loyal companions over several seasons. True favorites that you will never want to do without again.

FAIR FASHION
We take responsibility
We, Antonia and Johanna, develop our collections in Germany. We have handed over their production to small family-run manufacturers in Nepal. Our production partners there still mainly work on traditional hand knitting machines and masterfully implement our design ideas. We deliberately chose this international collaboration: The craftsmanship and extensive cashmere expertise of our Nepalese partner companies guarantee us and our customers unrivaled quality. At the same time, our cooperation secures good jobs for numerous families in Nepal.
To ensure that we can all live up to this responsibility, we maintain close, personal contact with our production partners, establish transparent processes and produce under fair working conditions.

WE WANT TO GIVE SOMETHING BACK
Every purchase supports school children in Nepal
In a world in which goods, prosperity and participation are not fairly distributed, we specifically support families, children and young people in Nepal. For every purchase you make in our store, we donate a portion to school building projects in the villages of Devighat and Duipipal in cooperation with the Jürgen Wahn Foundation. In addition, you can also donate €5 to these school building projects by purchasing a cashmere finger puppet (€7.99).
